Alternative energy solutions for aquaculture -
This research collaboration between the Fisheries Research & Development Corporation, the Blue Economy CRC and Seafood Industry Australia is investigating alternative energy options for the aquaculture sector to help operators reduce carbon emissions and operating costs.
climate resilient wildcatch fisheries -
The project outlined the need for the fishing industry to reduce GHG emissions by 2030. Over 8 months, the project evaluated alternative fuels' potential to cut emissions, recognising challenges in regulatory stimulus and incomplete research.
Socio-economic characterisation of a small-scale commercial fishery -
This project addressed the need for:
Baseline data availability and analysis of the TSF commercial fleet’s fishing activities in order to determine and continue to monitor change in feet characteristics, fishing strategies and behaviours;
Baseline data availability and analysis of social and economic operating conditions and outcomes for the commercial sector and the extent to which it is viable for current licence holders and is generating public benefits (i.e., fishery-level social and economic performance); and
Identification of the types and operating conditions of TSF product supply chains and markets, as well as opportunities for supply chain and market improvements
farm co-operatives and Collaboration pilot program -
Project management services to deliver Wildcatch Fisheries SA’s project, 'Fair Fish'. Margo Consulting administered the project that comprised a four-stage feasibility study, a twelve month trial involving 13 of Adelaide’s top restaurants, the development of a website with an e-commerce platform and the development of bespoke software to allow real time communications with consumer. Margo Consulting also contributed to a feasibility report to ascertain the cash flow, business model and structure for a co-op.
Executive Officer Services
Southern Rock Lobster limited -
Margo Consulting provides professional services to Southern Rocklobster Limited (SRL) as the company secretary. SRL is the peak research body for commercial lobster fishers in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. Under an Industry Partnership Agreement with the Fisheries Research & Development Corporation, Margo Consulting facilitates:
Southern Rock Lobster research, development and extension projects;
a corporate structure for the company;
engagement with the supply chain; and
communication of research outputs.
Victorian Strawberry industry development committee -
Margo Consulting provides Executive Officer services to the Victorian Strawberry Industry Development Committee. The Committee’s role is to collect and administer a State levy that funds projects to fulfil the industry’s research and development needs. The Committee is represented by growers, industry participants and the Victorian State Government.
South Australian Blue Crab Pot Fishers Association -
Margo Consulting provides Executive Officer services to the SABCPFA. The Association’s role is to advocate for the Blue Swimmer Crab fishery’s commercial participants and investigate opportunities to develop the industry.
South australian Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds (2020-2024) -
Margo Consulting provided Executive Officer services to the South Australian Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds. The SA Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds ($4.5m expenditure annually) exist to support programs that contribute to a profitable and sustainable South Australian red meat and wool industries.
South Australian Dairy Industry Fund (2020 - 2022) -
Margo Consulting provided Executive Officer services to the South Australian Dairy Industry Fund. The SA Dairy Industry Fund Limited was officially formed in October 2014 to finance projects that directly benefit the South Australian dairy industry and its communities.
